The last show for a particular city. "say you'll help get me through the ending" --> singing along to the encore. "say you will be all around me" --> Fans surrounding the stage. "sets your heart free" --> being passionate about your music as a form of cathartic release. Now, that's just an interpretation. But I think it's a better one than sex. I think the concept of a guy lying on his death bed is even more likely. "say you will be all around me" --> surrounded by friends and family before he dies. "say you'll get me through the ending" --> support as he faces death. "when your body sets your heart free" --> death, obviously. "it won't be long now" --> death, obviously. This has gotta be the most plausible explanation.">
I disagree. Strongly.
I reckon this song relates could relate to touring, hinted by the "spotlight" reference. I don't think it's about sex, because the only line that possibly relates is: "And then we'll lie down. Ill hold you close then..."
BUT...
It's not "we'll lie down AND THEN I'll hold you close", it's "We'll sing this song out AND THEN we'll lie down. I'll hold you close, then I'll let you know when etc etc..." The important difference is he's not lying down holding them close. He's singing the song out, and then he'll lie down. Clearly, what he does after a gig...
