I figure the song's about being unique, the fear and many people's want to be unique. There's also the "pushing my pram" line which sort of makes me think it's about doing something (like getting pregnant outside of wedlock) that makes others look down on you and then getting so sick and tired of it that you feel like parading what made you hated in the first place.
As for the dog mentioned...I dunno, could be about getting overexcited or something, due to fear perhaps?
