"ilovevast", i really like your interpretation.
my first interpretation was that the person wants to leave (die, escape the world). they are tired of the regimented, repetitive nature of their life, and they view "the sky" (heaven) as so much more appealing.
he wants this girl to feel the same way about life as he does. when he is with her, or when he "leaves"with her, he wants their lives to be behind them forever, & build a better life (a desert garden) with them. the desert garden being a place (in heaven) that is completely isolated, and beautiful (if somewhat, literally, impossible).
