Cover art for Teenagers lyrics by My Chemical Romance

They gonna clean up the looks - They are talking about janitors here.

With all the lies in the books - The janitors are going to use pages from books to clean now instead of mops because there are no mops in the period in which they are writing about

To make a citizen out of you - After the janitors clean up the looks with the pages in the books, you can become a citizen of the new country

Because they sleep with a gun - Not much here, just saying that all the janitors now sleep with guns..Most likely because the crime rate has swelled so much

And keep an eye on you son - They keep one eye open when they sleep.

so they can watch all the things you do - self explanatory.

Because the drugs never work - At this place in the time, the earth has been ravaged by nuclear war so good drugs are probably hard to come by.

They gonna give you a smirk 'Cus they've got methods of keeping you clean - Because people cannot get drugs anymore, the Janitors give people smirks because its easier to keep you clean now, since youve become drug free, you dont get as dirty anymore.

Their gonna rip up your heads, Your aspirations to shreds, Another cog in the murder machine

I think this part is saying that some of these janitors will go crazy and how they will begin to commit mass genocide by using some sort of murder machine that rips up peoples heads.

They said, all Teenagers scare the living shit out of me

I think that the janitors were giving the 'teenagers" a command to scare the living shit of M.E.. I am not exactly sure which organization the "teenagers" belong to but I think they are allied with the janitors and this order could have started up some kind of war.

They can care less as long as, Someone will bleed I think this was the "teenagers" response to the janitors saying that they didnt really care about scaring them as long as someone bleeds. Again, I am not really sure who the "teenagers" or who "M.E." are but it is obvious that they both hate each other.

So darken your clothes, Or stike a violent pose, Maybe they'll leave you alone But not me

I think that the "teenagers" were telling the janitors to darken their clothes, since janitors wear light uniforms or to help them fight and the "teenagers" might leave them alone, but they will not leave M.E. alone.

The boys and girls in the clique, The awful names that they stick,

I think this line opens up a story about an organization called the clique, The people in the "clique" probably have awful names but I am not too sure what they are about or who they are allied with.

Youre never gonna fit in much kid Kid could be the nickname or real name of the leader or president of the "clique"

But if your troubled and hurt, What you got under you shirt, Will make em pay for things that they did!

Probably leading up to another story, where a hero named Kid saves the world, maybe after the conflict with the "teenagers" and "M.E.".

I also think the guitar solo represents the epic battle that occurs between these future organizations, the outcome of the battle will most likely be told on another song.
