When i first heard this song, i immediately thought about the book 1984, and when Stalin controlled Russia. I think this song is about propaganda, and how it can completely take ur ability to reason and think for yourself, sort of like communism. In the first verse, the boy watches the box for a way to turn it off, and to unlock whatever keeps him there. In the second verse however, he watches it because he enjoys watching it, and wants to do whatever it tells him to do. Another thing that made me think of Stalin/1984 was the chourus. It sounds like Mike is tryin to smoothly persuade whoever is watching this box that the box never lies. And this parallels to Stalin/1984 in the fact that the Party was Always right, and you should accept everything they say. But kudos to lupe, he always makes songs with true meaning.
