Okay. I never thought of it that way. And you guys are obvioulsy right now that i think about it so i'm totally going to embaress myself by saying this but......
I pictured the song to be about the humans general need for companionship and the pressure to feel like a "pretty one" to gain that companionship. And "I want to be original" was kind of like wanting to be yourself but being afraid that it wouldn't be enough for everyoen else to accapt you. And he keeps using all the oxymorons like "hanging from the floor" because he doesn't know who he is or who he's supposed to be.
It kind of makes sense if you don't really think about it.
