I think it’s about his girlfriend who starts to get into the la scene. She wants to fit in and be accepted. So she just does drugs to fit in with her drugee and alcoholic friends. He’s there for her when she doesn’t want to do it, but she does it anyway. After a while she never changed as he was waiting for her to. She wanted to, but she couldn’t and he is ashamed of her. He started to lighten up to what she does after a while, but it’s too late because she broke up with him for not thinking that way all along. He then blamed himself for not stopping her when she wanted him to and he stops being ashamed.
