This song is surreal, and actually rather creepy. While not necessarily a bad thing, I can see how it wouldn't suit a lot of tastes. I like it, albeit I could do without the long, drawn-out instrumental portion at the end. The guitar is actually a little too screechy. That part of the song could easily be cut in half or more...and if there was a version like that, I'd for sure download it to my iTunes. I do have this one. It runs 7 minutes and 14 seconds long!

Anyway, onto the actual meaning: it's simple, isn't it? Hope Sandoval (lead singer) is simply speaking to someone she loves dearly; most likely her lover, as far as I can see. The only line that confuses me is, "You lost your chance." This, along with "Mary of Silence," appear to be streams of consciousness. I think that's all the lyrics are, hence why it sounds rambly to me. So it's rambling with an amazing beat and a drawn-out end. It grew on me, I must say - even though Hope talks and does not sing. It's a standout track on the album.

I think it needs to be drawn out, the rhythmic beat, hushed whisper as the singer takes a back seat to the instrumental, it shows a vast contrast when comparing this to the first track on the album but that's part of what they are trying to say I think, fade into you as this album does so that tonight that I might see what you are really of, who you are compared to who you say you are and like the album there is no conscious change no significant point where the music takes over the vocals but it...
