i like the fire analogies.
might be about two people ("fire" & "embers"), who have both persued many people. they enter relationships just to use the other person. the people they persue have wasted their love on that person - they are left regretful and "burnt". "fire" & "embers" fake feelings of care and love. relationships are like games to them. they use the same method & rules on every conquest - the same speeches, the same gestures, etc. once they have what they want, they simply 'drop' them & move onto the next person.
they categorise others: they are either new, old, or discarded. all they have is choice - their pick of the next person to burn.
