I agree with Incubus man that it's about a break-up. However, I disagree with what he said a little. He's not saying the whole relationship was "wasted time". He's saying that it was good at the start but, inocence became jaded and sentiments became hopeless. So now the time until they break up is "wasted time" and he just wants to get it over with.
