"'Cause he wants her, and she wants me
And we wanna be with the one that we need
And he wants her, and she wants me
And we all wanna be with the one that we need
And he wants what she wants
And I wanna be with the one who thinks I'm her brother"
So this guy wants her, and she want the writer, and they're all obviously in need of SOMEONE, but the writer feels that he needs to look after her like a brother would look after another sibling [a sister, especially] yes, he wants to be the one with her.
The third paragraph makes me think of how crazy people act trying to be, or staying with the one that they say they love [or do in fact love] and do things that they normally wouldn't do.
The last two lines are strange to me, it's almost as if he's questioning the whole thing. Does he really want to be her brother [metaphoric to look after her] or maybe she's starting to think of him like that, rather than a lover.
Sounds like a love triangle to me.

I go back and forth.
