To me, this song is about a loved one who is hurting themselves, especially physically- "Bandage up your arms again, no one can see the blood but you." Also, this person is hiding all their misery, and only revealing it by hurting themselves. They think that their life won't get any better, that it is hopeless and they are stuck- "cause you're so afraid, that all that you have, is all you deserve." However, they are really only living in half-life, not really trying as much as they could be. The singer sees this-"Won't you get up off your knees?", and she knows this isn't healthy, and "It's time to run," meaning it's time to try harder to improve where they are. The lines "Don't you give it up for me" show that the person is a loved one of the singer, and that she doesn't want this person to give up their misery and self harm for anyone but themselves. The singer also knows that their pain and self harm can't go on forever- "Just how long can you bleed." At the end of the song, the singer has just about given up trying to reason with this person and just gives in to their notions that their life won't get better, and "that all you have is all you deserve".
That's just my own reaction. Feel free to offer a new one. :]
I really really get this song (at least at an emotional level) it kinda talks about things that can't be expressed vocally. It's about the despair and love that you have with somebody and a desperate plead to be allowed into their life. I was really in love with a girl when I caught onto this song, she wouldn't do anything to let me back in to her life because I treated her badly the first time around. I wished that I could do anything or everything that she wanted from me, but no matter how hard...

This song just transcends the way that time was, so painful, yet eventually I was able to reason and believe that we both did all we could. I think that this song describes the flip side of truly unconditional love.... unyielding unrelenting excruciating loving and longing for somebody who becomes the air that you breath.
