(nerding GO!) I think this song has deeper meaning than that of the lyrics may portray at first glance. It's not about a singer singing about himself reading a book. i would argue that it's more about false hope that people fool themselves into knowing that what's coming toward them (despite all odds) is nothing more than "a longest way to a shortest ending". This can be backed up by how the electric base and drums are sometimes in melody together and at other times the instruments are played with a cacophonous beat as intended. In short, the lyrics talk about being tired in trying to pursue something that will never be. Whatever that something is is for the listener to decide. For me, I would say this is where certain BGRelationships apply.
