"The stories from our childhood
condition us to think
that beauty is a basic human trait"
I love that part! Because the truth is that we are constantly told that everyone is the best and the most beautiful and the smartest, basically the perfect world. But, the truth is that most people are not all that good. Mediocrity is what is actually seen. But this also speaks on the opposite. Poverty and rape and the like that are actually the opposite of the perfect world we envision. And the confusion is trying to explain how all this work with the world we wish it to be, or believe it to be.
