I actually think this is a negative song. I think it's about a man and a woman. When they get together she tells him that their memories will never die and they'll always be a part of each other. This turns out to be true but in a bad way, as her memories of such wonderful times gives her a constant reminder of what she gave up. He's always a part of her so she can never forget what she's lost.
"Whenever you wake up
Remember you gave up
All that you had for nothing at all
The bed that you lay in
Remember you made it
And nobody’s there to catch you when you fall"
This reflects my view.
