Anyway, I completely agree with you guys. She's telling herself literally over AND over that she doesn't want it to get serious; she's scared to commit with the guy. The very fact that 'maybe' even comes into the equation shows she's been entertaining the possibility of getting serious with this guy.
The middle 8 is also very telling. If we draw attention to the line, 'white picket fences in your eyes,' I mean c'mon.. She looks into his eyes and she imagines her ideal. The white picket fence being synonymous with the perfect life. Also the placement of 'you' and 'me' in the next line is interesting. She puts this guy before herself. She doesn't want to hurt him. Pleading him not to 'make too much of it baby.'
