"I think I recognise them from the last time I was here" means that the priest/vicar/whatever has a set series of lines he reads at a funeral. So it's very impersonal, "He was a good man, he will be missed." Stuff like that, which can apply to anyone.

The way he wants to be taken 'home' suggests he's accepted death and is no longer afraid of it, and the Mystic Energy is some unknown or Divine feeling he has that welcomes him into death.
