I thought it was more personal than that, although I think that makes sense. It makes me think of a girl who has a really loving boyfriend/husband who sticks by while she's going through depression or a difficult time in her life. She's making mistakes ("it hits me and I can’t even believe this is my life"), and she hates herself for them. She "hates the way he looks at her" because he still thinks the world of her despite her problems.
Ultimately she knows that "people have problems that are worse than mine", and that her life really is quite easy - "you just stand still, look pretty", but she is still unhappy and disillusioned.
