first verse is an argument, all the lows are the father and singing is the mother. second verse is discussion between the father and his father about what to do with the boy. the key line in this whole song is "all these settings never made it better" its used to justify everyones position and point of view about what to do with the kid. the mother and father just want to run, the grandfather thinks he'll be better off since he has money but the father doesn't agree since he doesnt like the way he was raised, then the last verse is saying if the kid's grandparents took the kid to raise him and then gave back to the real parents when he was a certain age (which is what happens in the path); it will still be a bad solution for the kid. All three cd's are about how you deal with your mistakes and how people can be hipocrits until they actually go through the situation in which they are criticizing so much
