(I listened to three versions of Murray doing this acoustic to make sure I got it right :P)
I'm guessing he's singing how "great" the industry is.
How The Dears aren't treated as anything close to
international superstars, they're often tossed aside by critics, they never seem to enjoy playing at festivals.
And I mean he says hangs out with
Pariahs (which is an outcast or someone who's rejected from a society) and that people are seemingly
using him (labels perhaps?)
'Mal' I believe is French for evil or bad,
I'm assuming its another jab at the industry.
On a longshot, I'm gonna say that
during the last section (The world loves you),
Murray is singing to himself. Trying to fool himself almost.
Either that or he's thinking about
what he was told (or told himself)
when he was aspiring to become a musician.
That people would love him and his music.

Anyways it's late, and I'm rambling :P
