I reckon this song on the surface is what it says. "You know that I wont let you fall" is about a long standing friendship where trust and being there for each other were always the foundations of it, but now Ray is becoming withdrawn and the breakdown starts "I'm treading on my tippy toes" this is as if Ray is so withdrawn hes worried about stepping on his feelings but also hes tip-toeing around Ray because he fears making him worse.
