Well, this is a funny one. To me, it's about one of two possibilities: Either a heterosexual male has lost his girlfriend to another WOMAN, or a homosexual male has lost his male partner to a woman (i.e. his partner is going straight).

I suspect the latter, if only because the song is sung by a male, but more because of the first line of the second verse: "She's got you thinking/Of a world where you might fit in/A whole lot better than the one you've been living in." This refers, I would suspect, to the fact that homosexuals are often cast as misfits in society and face constant discrimination, so his male partner sees this chance to live a "normal" life by being with "her."

What do you all think?

p.s. I saw CC on Memorial Day this year, just a few days ago, and he did this song as the first part of his second encore. The show was GREAT
