i totally agree with PPbarker. its about knowing and finally excepting that the person you are in love with is no longer in love with you. for whatever their reasons maybe. i think that is most evident in the first lines of the song (what if you could wish me away,what if you spoke those words today,i wonder if you'd miss me when i'm gone, it's come to this, release me) wanting to stay but accepting that it's not going to work. it's tragic and beautiful. without a doubt my favorite song on the album.
