This song is about a Malthusian catastrophe the date and number mean little, the fact that its an inevitability at some point is whats relevant.

I also find this to be one of their most anti-socialist songs. "Haves and have-nots together at last Brutally engaged in mortal combat" This line basically means, we will all finally be of the same economic class when we are all starving in the streets, a philosophical jab at socialists.

The person who thinks China is a step in the right direction needs to do research. They are currently going through a self made crisis of having no women to birth any children, since everyone in the starting generations of there initial ban on more than one child families all wanted boys. If you want the human race to dwindle out of existence, yeah we might want to adopt their system.

I don't get it, where did you get the "anti-socialist" part from the song? I agree with your interpretation of the line that it refers to the abundant and poor will all be on the same economic class. But "mortal combat" might not be referring to the conservative-socialist struggle."Mortal combat" might refer to people striving not to die. Afterall, even if we will all at last starve to death doesn't mean that the class wars are completely futile. I don't sense the satire towards socialism.

Let's look at the other song off the same album "The Gray Race", "Punk Rock Song". Here it says, "Big strong people unwilling to give Small in vision and perspective" Clearly stated the position of the band that the strong people should help the starving people as referred to the first few lines. "In this land of competition the compassion is gone Yet we ignore the needy and we keep pushing on" "competition" as in Capitalism. "Yet we ignore the needy" Again appealing to the rich to help out the poor....
