I heard this song this morning for the first time and immediately knew what it was about becuase I struggle with the same thing every day. The song is about coming to grips with the fact that there is no life after death. There is no heaven. Or God. Yea, it's an atheist song. Whoever wrote the lyrics is definitely an atheist. Examples: 1. "WE are the light in the tunnel" (We don't see heaven in near death experiences, it's just in our brain) 2. "that's all" (Part of #1, but also, our life on Earth is all there is, no heaven) 3. "and don't pretend I'll see the other side" is actually "I don't pretend I see the other side". (I don't pretend to know what happens to me after I die, like religious organizations). And a few more. There is no doubt in my mind that this is what this song means.
