Sexx Laws Lyrics

I usually never comment on these but my interpretations of this song were so far off from the previous posters' and i'm wondering if ANYONE shares my thoughts.

It may just be my feminist instincts, but I always thought the "sexx" in sexx laws meant something more like gender- not (necesarily) sex.

The chorus says it all:

"I want to defy The logic of all sex laws" -or, "screw society's views on gender and sex"

"Let the handcuffs slip off your wrists" -in other words, "you go suffragette sister" ...haha

"I'll let you be my chaperone At the halfway home" -He's not taking charge in a man/woman relationship like society dictates.

I'm a full grown man But I'm not afraid to cry -Again, society dictates that men shouldn't cry because it's not "manly" or whatever.

Thoughts?

Oh, and yes, the video is a work of pure genious. I can watch it any mood and be full on high on life by the end.

Another brilliant double meaning lies in the title of the song. The two x's at the end of Sex are parodying the use of "X" to mean "Adult," but they also imply an "XX" chromosome, adding another layer to the description of "Sexx" Laws as "Gender" Laws.

Long story short, Beck is awesome.
