I hear: "just waiting for what you have to say" "lay your life down at the altar" "because the day will come" "whatever you're preaching it isn't me"

I see this song as a war cry against following the way of the world.. but not just the world, of the stereotypical "christian" life, where sOmE of us might take the time out of our busy schedules to make it to church once a week, and then go on living our lives however we want to. To me, that's what I feel the part of the song that talks about "don't you give me pretty words" is talking about. We can tell God that he's our priority and we can sing songs praising him all day long but God's not satisifed with just that- he wants our LIVES. I think there's a point where the words that we sing are insulting to our father when they come such blatantly hypocritical mouths..
