To heckyeahitsanna: I have a similar interpretation to this song as alhora in that I think this song is about not letting society tell you who to be. What I think this line means is that you just need to listen to your heart in who you want to be and that you don't need to fight who society is telling you to be because if you listen to your heart society has no control over you.
