Regardless, I think this has a bit more to do with quality is more important than quantity. "Padding your pockets doesn't make this a better place" basically states that having a lot is not what makes you good. "'Cereal and water' is a feast for some you say," speaks of having a lot of crap and calling it a feast. And as the song says, there is a difference between just survival and actually living.
