To me, it's about longing. More correctly, reminiscing, about an ended relationship.
"wrong to say i'm giving up, right to say i ain't showing up".. great line. Even though one says the final goodbyes, one never gives up in one's heart. You always remember, you always want to "live again those joyous scenes" in your mind.
