I also saw the video, and when comparing it to the song, it seems that the message here is for the people who try to blind themselves to the violent world we are living. You can't just 'feel nothing' for the things we are living these days. I know Chris Cornell is not a political focused songwriter as were his former bandmates of Audioslave, but I've read in interviews that sometimes he adresses his political or social opinions in a subtle way. Anyways, the song is just great. Chris is an amazing songwriter and poet.
