I think this song is about how christians are stuck in the world today like they are stuck in a crossfire between heaven and hell. i think the whole first stanza is about how in the world noone can really trust anyone.

To me this part means you call yourself a christian but u never do anything to back it up, cause when asked or people are talking about it you are too afraid to confess........
