Could be about a girlfriend. Maybe. But it's more than likely about a cat, doesn't Neil's parents keep stray cats or something? Thought I read that somewhere. I think it's about a real cat. I had a cat that sounds like the one in this song, should would occasionally go completely insane and run full speed through the house knocking stuff over so I would let her out to let her work off some of that energy before she destroyed my house. When she came back in she always ran to the food dish then sat at my feet till I picked her up. I loved that cat, but she got hit by a car. :(
