The first few lines address that the song is about someone, and that the person should pretend it's about someone else ("some names have been changed to protect identities")

Haha, to the previous poster, don't overanalyze things. Just accept that it's a song, and go with it.

While I won't reveal who it's about, a lot of the references are not meant to be interpreted, because they would only be familiar to the people involved. The whole song is sort of talking about memories, then an incident that changed a lot.
