I do belive that this song is about one who is loved, but lost. They feel that they are becoming overwelmed by darkness and 'the dawn...ne'r to apear.' I think that the one who is expressing this song is feeling a level of sadness and ire towards the one who's life seems in vain. They find that it is a mystery that it is so, perhaps because it is about some one who has a lot of things going for them, but are still miserable and lost. I'm sure we all know someone like that, anyway, it is a vary beautiful song and is one of my personal favorites by Sirenia.
