My take on it is like the others'.Though I think, despite it also being that he's with his "friends" just because he always has been, it's also because he really has nowhere else to go. And also, I think it's more him stuck with them rather than vice versa, because of the first line:
"What is wrong with all my friends
I know that I am unlike them
Just another situation
Don't hold me back
I don't look up to them..."
I think the lyrics here are wrong. He says that he doesn't look up to them, because of their actions or whatever it is that they do, and he's saying "don't hold me back, I don't look up to them" as a way to say that they're just holding him back, keeping him from doing the things that he wants to be doing.
