i think this song is about a person who at once made the lead singer feel vulnerable and desperate all the time.. soon, they switch positions and they are "shaking, chilled and weak"..

those lines could mean that whatever that person used to do to the singer to make them feel as desperate as they did will not work anymore.. and that the singer is finally 'awake' and thinking of exactly what to say to let the person know their plans have failed..
