Ok, to the point. My interpretation is as follows:
This is clearly about a realtionship that the singer probably doesn't want to be in any more (1st stanza) but is expected to by the other person (2nd stanza). In the 3rd stanza he says that he has greater problems now than this relationship ("I'm really scared of getting lost in real life / So please stop asking me for more") and wants to explain everything to the other person so as to "get it straight" and "get it right". And the point of this explanation is the last-but-one line -- he wants to be let go, to be free and not bound by any relationship. However, the last line is some kind of a "thank you" to the other person for the opportunity to break free from some kind of trouble in his life.
