I don't know about anyone else... but I think it's talking about an addiction of some sort, whatever it is- cigarattes, drugs, alcohol, but it makes perfect sense to put a girl in as the person who should "call him."
I think the thing that should "call him" is this addiction he's trying to get over, but just can't. So he'd like to get by with more of the addiction.
