The female character in the story, Mary, just died. Nikky believes it was suicide I think, though the songs themselves never actually say how she was killed. But Nikky goes into a depression, I mean alot of us can relate to this type of thing. We've all been in love and lost someone, maybe not through death but just a bad break up.
