I wasn't attached to this song, until the first time I listened to it after the death of a friend. When I heard "Until this empty place is filled, I'll keep pretending" [my favorite line] it really hit me and I could so identify with it. To me, this song meant continuing to live life even if it's painful. You may get knocked down, it may hurt, but if you feel like you can't go on, just pretend everything's going to be ok.
