First of all, this is by far my favorit Meg & Dia song. I dont necessarily think its about an ex boyfriend. I think she falls in love with a best friend who is in a serious relationship. It gets to the point where she doesnt even wanna be a friend anymore because it hurts to see him so happy with someone else.
