This is the first song of Bodom I ever heard and is my favorite by far! I always thought this song spoke of giving up on trying to be something that you aren't for another's sake. "Better is what I used to feel alone" and the fact that the lack of peace of mind causes him to want to lose his "mask of sanity" to retrieve it are what I base that on.
And yeah, don't mess with the keyboardist. I really think that the keyboards cause the most confusion about their genre but they are fucking awesome!
