In my opinion this is the only song from Songs for Silverman that would make Ben Folds greatest hits album
"A trace of me floats in my periphery/and every time I turn to see/it goes" maybe one of his greatest internal rhymes and metaphorical images ever. I think this song is about the feeling of surviving passage of time without getting answers to the "big questions" (like: who am i? why do we 'walk the earth'? 'who will be the first to go?' Am I 'Alone' again?)
After all, "the biggest things we have to face alone"
