fantastic song. i think its fairly safe to say its about the impermanence of bad times/events and how things will get better/change. You'll eventually find love, be braver, and probably just become more experienced in life and not make the same mistakes over again.

I think it also goes beyond that and may have a Gospel message imbedded in the song or at least a testimony of the Gospel message. References to "Stormy Winds" I think points to the Trinity. See Ezekiel 1 and Matthew 26. I also think the chorus, "all these inside fires burned up these outside things" refers to Christ in us redeeming us and as a result we are alive with no need to worry.
