I love all beatles stuff to be honest. i just think they're so amazing, there can never be anything better than them. I sometimes prefer Paul's stuff...i'm not sure why...just more...i don't know. his songs tend to be more story-like (Eleanor Rigby, Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite- at least i think that's a paul song, i don't know...) and i like that kind of thing.
i think the statement 'Paul was great with help from john' can't really be justified- the two wrote together, neither had particular help from each other, they were both great anyway, there wasn't one that was better than the other, in the whole band i would say really. it's just my opinion that i sometimes like paul's stuff more.
