to me...this song is about letting go of a relationship where one has struggled with callousness,disregard and unkindness of the emotional sort.....a kind of relationship where one loves and the other doesn't. So the one who loves has struggled to keep it together.....dealt with 'demons' - 'desire', 'despair', 'desire'......stayed as long as he/she could.....and is finally letting go. I hope to God she does! I've been there......
