In my opinion this song is about somebody being strong enough to go off and do what they want to do, for example, being with somebody your parents don't approve of. To me "the time will come to use your voice and push your views" means that you need to speak up for yourself. "you bite your tongue, they'll bury you" means that if you don't keep pushing, they simply won't understand. The second verse could be a reminder to still be polite rather than obnoxious, and to respect your parents opinions. "Scars are for a reason" could easily mean, don't make the same mistake twice, and make sure the person is worth fighting for. The last 5 beautiful minutes could be somebody elses point of view. Like a parent who's saying "it's okay that you're doing what you're doing. I might not have the same opinions as you, but I still respect you, and I'm curious to see where this path will take you". "home is where you believe" might be the parent saying "no matter what, you'll always be welcome here" I still can't quite explain fully what these lyrics mean to me, but I'm probably way off from the actual meaning.
