I guess this song is about Britpop and how Damon Albarn's life and the world in general have changed since those days. The tone of the song is a bit nostalgic and it's easy to find some negative feelings towards that era in the line "and I was losing it all the time". There's also a connection between Green Fields and Parklife, a song Albarn wrote for his old band, Blur. Nice song, probably one of the best in the album. Cheers!
