this song is about religion and how people have corrupted it. the title of the song is a reference to Luke 8:4 which is also titled "The Parable of The Sower".

Luke 8:4 states: "And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: a sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."

It is saying that the religious authority has been given to people who are wasting it. Corrupt people are taking over religion. I am not a religious person, but i stumbled upon this one day. I think what really confirmed it for me was the line "faith is less a feeling, more a mandate."

i'm pretty positive this is the exact meaning of the song as the band meant it to be, however, i am one to think that a song can have different value to any person, so take it how you want.
